The arrival of spring doesn’t mean an end to key freezes, tap backs and hit and rolls. Members can keep on playing the roaring game in April in the new Thaw Draw Spring League.
Starting on Tuesday, April 3 (6:45 to 9:00 pm) and lasting for five weeks, the Thaw Draw offers VCC members an opportunity to enjoy the game and get to know other members of the Club.
“We’re using the pick-up sports model,” explains Brad Blackwell, Manager of Membership Services. “Curlers can show up and play a game with other league members in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.” The league also provides an opportunity for newer curlers to get more experience.
You can register for five sessions or show up each Tuesday evening until May 8 (no curling on April 24). Cost is $10 for each session or $40 if you register for all five evenings of curling. Please email Brad or stop by the Pro Shop to sign-up.
This past weekend saw the expanded Barry Naimark Charity Skins take over the VCC. Everything about the 15th annual event was larger than in the past including how we grew to 48 teams and were able to raise more than $5,000 for this year's charity, Aunt Leah's Place.
Congratulations to Team Bourdage (featured on the right) for their impressive display on the ice throughout the weekend as they marched through the draw and took home more than $600 in Skins winnings.
As the second half of the curling season is in full swing, do you have some parts of your game that could use a tune up? Do you have some mid-season bad habits creeping into your game? We have a couple of solutions to these problems and more.
