After winning the Lower Mainland division of the Dominion BC Club Challenge, Team Faa spent their Easter weekend challenging teams from across the province and the western United States.
Competing at the Pacific International Cup / BC Dominion Club Challenge Provincial Finals, Team Faa finished in a four-way tie for second following round-robin play. After winning their two tie-breaker games in convincing fashion, Team Faa moved onto the medal round. Unfortunately, it was there that the team's spectacular run came to a grinding halt on the Sunday morning.
Congratulations to Team Faa for capturing the Lower Mainland Division of the BC Dominion Club Challenge.
The team finished the round-robin portion tied for first in their pool with 2 wins (over Port Moody and Abbotsford) and 1 loss (to Coquitlam). They won a set of coin tosses so Team Faa had only to play one tie-breaker, and they defeated Coquitlam in that game to advance to the semi-finals.
|Pictured left to right, Allen Ho (lead), Sean Ramsay (second), Jan Bos (third) and Chris Faa (skip) earned a one-point win over the 2008 Champions from Golden Ears to advance to the final. Once there, they played very well to hold a three-point lead heading into the final end, and they captured the title with a 5-2 win over Langley.|
The final competitive curling event at the current location of Vancouver Curling Club was played on April 6th. Eight teams remained in the season-ending VCC Championships as the semi-finals and finals of the A and B draws were played.
Congratulations are in order for Team Bos from Sunday Open and Team McGinty from the Motors League for capturing the A and B Championships, respectively.
Jan Bos has the honour of throwing the final rock in competition at our current building, and it was needed in the eighth end of the A Final to ensure that he ran Team Lutes out of rocks. Team Lutes, from the Thursday Open League, made their way to the final by beating Team Dunkin from the Super Seniors League in their semi-final. Team Bos, though, became 2011 Club Champions by first beating Team Miller of the Tuesday Women's League in the A semi-finals. They then built a 4-0 lead after three ends, a 6-2 lead after six ends, and an eventual 6-5 win over Team Lutes in the A final.
