2011 Harvest Bonspiel - A Resounding Success

The first-ever bonspiel in the new home of the Vancouver Curling Club wrapped up on Sunday, November 6 with Team Apex Pest Control (on the right) claiming the champions’ title for the 2011 Harvest Bonspiel.

A fun weekend was had by all participants and spectators both on and off the ice.

2011 Harvest Bonspiel Champions - Team Apex Pest Control

The 32-team event was sold out over two weeks in advance, and we were pleased to welcome teams from the San Francisco Bay Area Curling Club, the Evergreen Curling Club in Portland, a number of local clubs - Delta, Richmond, Marpole, Royal City, Port Moody, and Tunnel Town - and members from many of the VCC’s leagues took part (including Point Grey, B&B, Shamrock, Super Seniors, Thursday Open, Pacific Rim, Granville Island Open, 453 City Hall, Tuesday Night Women, and Sunday Open).

Event chair, Kathy MacInnes, and her organizing committee are to be congratulated for hosting a well-run event as compliments were flowing from both members and non-members about the bonspiel. Everyone enjoyed competitive games on the fabulous ice of the VCC’s new home, had fun in the Last Draw Lounge before and after games, and were treated to a tasty meal as part of the Saturday night banquet.
