This past weekend saw the largest-ever VCC Doubles Bonspiel take place on February 11. A full-draw of 32 teams played multiple four-end games, using the unique world doubles format rules, and Jan Bos and Noah Grant (featured on the left) were crowned the 2012 Champions.

The Club's annual fundraising event for the Sandra Schmirler Foundation, the Doubles Bonspiel is a unique format that ensures every participant gets to play a number of games all inside of one day. All of the participants had a thoroughly enjoyable time on and off the ice while raising over $1,000.

This year's event featured representatives from 13 of the Club's 20 leagues, participants from visiting clubs including Royal Montreal, Richmond, Royal City, and Marpole, and a full gamut of ages from teenagers to those enjoying their retirement. And everyone was full of praise for the work done by the event chair - Dianne Petrant - and her supporting team of Kathy McInnes, Linda Woyce, Gordon Arai, Scott Allen and Brad Blackwell for hosting a great event. Kudos to everyone's efforts leading up to and during the 2012 VCC Doubles Bonspiel.
