Thank you for supporting the Sandra Schmirler Foundation

The VCC's Sandra Schmirler Day took place on Saturday, November 21st, and club members and community members alike came on down to the Vancouver Curling Club to celebrate the sport of curling.

The day was a busy one that had the club's Junior program taking place, the start of the VCC Playdowns for the Dominion Club Challenge, teams from the Blind League playing an exhibition game, community members 'having a go' on the ice and a number of club members who took advantage of the open ice to practice their skills.

Donations to the Sandra Schmirler Foundation for the day totaled over $200, and this amount will be added to the funds raised during the season-opening VCC Doubles Bonspiel and donated later this season.

Lastly, many club members helped out to make the day a success. The day's overall organizer was Barbara Petkau, the Blind League helpers included John Sinclair, Jim Hall and Dave Critoph, Scott Allen coordinated the Club Challenge Playdowns, the club's instructors who worked with the juniors and community members included Bev Bryck, Rob Hodgins, Jan Bos, Gary Lubin, and Dianne Petrant, and the club's staff of Chris, Don and Morgan helped ensure the day ran smoothly.
