Season-ending VCC Championships

The final competitive curling event at the current location of Vancouver Curling Club was played on April 6th. Eight teams remained in the season-ending VCC Championships as the semi-finals and finals of the A and B draws were played.

Congratulations are in order for Team Bos from Sunday Open and Team McGinty from the Motors League for capturing the A and B Championships, respectively.

Jan Bos has the honour of throwing the final rock in competition at our current building, and it was needed in the eighth end of the A Final to ensure that he ran Team Lutes out of rocks. Team Lutes, from the Thursday Open League, made their way to the final by beating Team Dunkin from the Super Seniors League in their semi-final. Team Bos, though, became 2011 Club Champions by first beating Team Miller of the Tuesday Women's League in the A semi-finals. They then built a 4-0 lead after three ends, a 6-2 lead after six ends, and an eventual 6-5 win over Team Lutes in the A final.

Team Bos is skip Jan Bos, third Brian Oldham, second Dave Marchant, and lead
Darcy Greiner.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the draw, Team McGinty captured the B Final with a win over Team Shamrock. Team McGinty is skip Jerry McKenzie, third Bill McGinty, second Rob Goble, and lead Ken Wilson.

The VCC Championships is a great showcase of the diversity of the Club's membership, and a chance for members from all of the club's leagues to play against each other. Complete event details are available by clicking here.
