Team Gregory takes the 2013 OK Tire Cup
"Old guys rule" was the theme of the 2013 OK Tire Cup Master Men's Bonspiel, hosted by the Vancouver Senior Men’s Curling League from Dec.16-18 at Vancouver Curling Club. And rule the old guys did, with fierce competition among the 24 registered teams who came from Coquitlam, North Shore, Richmond, Royal City, Langley and Squamish.
On Wednesday, Team Gregory from Coquitlam, who were undefeated, took the title. Three teams played from the host league plus two from other VCC leagues, with all curlers members of the Pacific Coast Masters Curling Association.
Players on each team were 60 or older, with one 55-60 per team. The Bonspiel featured five games for all entrants, followed by a delicious lunch, presentation of the OK Tire Cup, cash prizes for the top six teams, and prizes for all teams (based on games won).
"The team (Gregory) would like to thank the organizers of the bonspiel for the efforts and the ice technician for the great ice surface provided. It was a very well-run bonspiel and we will be back next year. Special thanks to OK Tire for sponsoring this event."
