Thank you for the 2010-2011 season
A message from the Club's outgoing president...
I would like to thank all our members and volunteers for a great season in 2010-2011.
The VCC is, at its core, a club – and a club is defined by the actions of its members. For my time on the board, on the whole, the actions of people I have been involved with have made me proud to be a member of the VCC.
I appreciate the patience that was shown regarding the ice surface and the support the staff and board received as we did our best under challenging (and unusual) conditions. Despite the “short-track, mogul curling” offered by the VCC this past season, members filled three bonspiels, which I believe highlights how great our membership is and how committed people are to making the VCC a great place to curl.
Outside our ice shed, teams from the VCC were very successful and we hope that will continue in the future. In preparing for the Last Rock Ceremony, I personally learned a lot about the great history of the VCC and its importance in the place of BC curling. Hopefully, in the new facility, our Club can continue to be a “happening” place for curling and a home to many more champions.
Lastly, I want to thank again all the individuals that have been involved in the transition to the new facility. While planning has gone back seven years, this last 18 months has seen a ramp up in activity. I hope our members will be as excited about the facility as those who have already seen it.
I would like to remind people that without the thousands of volunteered hours and tens of thousands of dollars of donated professional services, it would have been very difficult for us to get where we are today – one month from the key hand over.
Good curling everyone, and see you in the new facility this fall!
