VCC Team Continues to Make its Mark

After winning a silver medal in the Tim Horton’s BC Senior Women’s Curling Championship in Kamloops last season, Team Miller of the Vancouver Curling Club is back at it this fall hoping for a return to the provincials.

Team Miller is off to a good start by winning the Cloverdale Ladies Bonspiel on Nov. 18-20. “We played some really tough games,” said Skip Karen Miller. The competition included some other teams that are competing on the provincial circuit. “It gave us some strong practice and also gave us a chance to measure our team against a couple of other strong senior women's teams.”

“We have one change in our team from last year,” explains Miller. “Because of work, Beckie Ross is unable to curl with us in the playdowns. But we’re lucky that Shelley Birston, a long-time member of the VCC has joined us [to play third].” The Team also has a coach this year – VCC Honorary Life Member, Past President and long-time member, Pat McSherry.

Team Miller includes Kathy McInnes and Dianne Petrant on the front end. “We are so proud to represent the VCC,” added Miller.

The team’s next bonspiel is the Delta Ladies Spiel in early December. The Coastal Playdowns are Jan. 20-22 at the Kerry Park arena in Mill Bay on Vancouver Island.
